Rootstime Production presents new single: Musical Sniper | “For the Youths”...now on iTunes
Succeeding his debut album “Rough Upbringing”, Musical Sniper (aka Rappa Robert) shines with his soulful vocals on this new riddim from Rootstime Production. Produced by Grammy nominated reggae guitarist Jason “Jahson” Murphey, this track features african style tenor guitar lines, smooth keyboards, and reggae rooted drum and bass. No stranger to the studio, Musical Sniper recorded this song fresh after his session singing harmonies on a new Freddie McGregor tune "For Your Love" on the iDrop Riddim. Musical Sniper aka Rappa Robert shines with seasoned vocals exhibiting DJ precision in a smooth tenor reminiscent of the great Jimmy Cliff and singer Tabby of the Mighty Diamonds.
Starting with Colgate Children’s Club for Young Talent in Kingston, Jamaica: He won top honors in several talent show competitions singing popular songs as a youth. Chart success came soon after as a part of the duo ‘Rappa Robert & Tippa Lee,’ with their hits; “Come Inna De Dance” and “Nuh Trouble We”. Their performance at Reggae Sunsplash 1988 and 1989 granted them critical acclaim.
It is his love of DJing that honed the rhythmic vocal precision that can be heard in his new song: But it is years of experience and influence from mentors like Freddie McGreggor and Beres Hammond, that are paramount to the quality of lyrics and smooth singing voice heard in Musical Sniper’s new single, “For the Youths”. With a new album on the horizon, and a world tour in the making, music with such time invested in production and craft, stands predominantly in the ‘fast-food’ and 'generic' production so common today. “For the Youths” is an encouraging song, giving a voice to the less fortunate; while representing a seasoned sound perfected through time.
Produced by Jason "Jahson" Murphey and Robert "Musical Sniper" Wilson for Rootstime Production.
